Timothy Sing Key and his family recently relocated from Calgary, Canada to live and work in the DC area. This will be his first year at Congressional School, and it will be his 15th year as an educator. Timothy began teaching in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. In 2002 he moved to Taiwan to explore his Asian heritage and begin his international teaching career. Timothy has taught English, ESL, Geography, and Social Studies in top-tier British and American international schools in Taiwan, China, Brazil, and now in the USA at Congressional School.
Timothy’s international teaching experience has shaped him into a globally minded and compassionate teacher who is sensitive to studentsʼ unique academic, cultural, linguistic as well as social and emotional needs. He strives to maintain an open and supportive classroom space where each student feels safe and adequately challenged.
Outside of school, Timothy enjoys training for and racing in triathlons, traveling, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Glorya, and two children.

“I am passionate about fostering independent and lifelong learners who love reading and exploring the world we live in. What really excites me, is when I notice the spark ignite in the eyes of my young students once they realize that they can indeed do hard things.”
