EMILY MANES

Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, DePaul University

Emily joined Congressional School in 2018 on the 4th Grade Team. Before Congressional, she spent four years teaching at the Chinese American International School, a California Association of Independent Schools accredited preschool-8th-grade school in San Francisco where she taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Emily is a graduate of DePaul University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. In 2019, Emily began the process of earning her Masters in Education with a focus in Special Education from George Mason University.
Emily is passionate about creating a classroom community in which students feel belonging and like they are supported. She holds significant experience in several initiatives relevant to Congressional including Readers and Writers Workshop; Responsive Classroom; and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts. In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time exploring museums in the metro D.C. area, trying new restaurants, and hiking and camping with her family.
